Why Join? - Holly Muth Director of Development and Advocacy

Why should you join us in our mission?

First, I'll tell you why I joined.

The first thing that pulled me in was the rescue animals - who can resist the cute faces of our furry babies anyway? But the mission - that kept me here.

I am a survivor. And Embark has helped me, and continues to help me. It is an amazing support system - regardless of what you are a survivor of. It also is open to people at all points of your healing journey, and offers support and opportunities for everyone. This organization has allowed me to be more open about myself as a survivor, and more importantly has allowed me to find comfort and continue healing by giving me opportunities to help other survivors. The work we are able to do makes such a huge impact - even the littlest thing goes so far, trust me.

Why else?

1 in 4 women will be sexually assaulted on campus, and 1 out of every 6 men and women will experience sexual assault in their lifetime in the US. Every 73 seconds an American is assaulted. On average, 20 people per minute are physically abused in the United States. Nearly 700,000 children are abused each year. 7-8% of the population experience PTSD in their lifetime. Finally, 1 of every 6 adults in the United States live with mental illness. Violence and trauma are experienced commonly among all ages and genders in the United States, and the world. EmBark's mission is simply to support survivors in every possible way that we can. And that's what we're doing.
